Le thème de la rencontre des Mages provient de La Légende des Rois mages, écrite vers 1370 par le carme Jean de Hildesheim. Au point de rencontre des trois cortèges se dresse une stèle, appelée montjoie, qui sert de repère sur les chemins.
According to the gospel of St. Matthew, three Magi come to adore the Infant Jesus at Bethlehem and bring rich presents (gold, frankincense and myrrh) in cups that are ornately goldsmithed, similar to those that the Duke of Berry owned.
The theme of the meeting of the Magi comes from the History of the Three Kings, written around 1370 by the Carmelite John of Hildesheim. At the meeting point of the three corteges stands a stela, called a montjoie, that serves as a reference point on pathways.
