Les frères Limbourg disparaissent tous les trois en 1416, peut-être à la suite d’une épidémie de peste, sans que le manuscrit soit terminé. Une partie du livre garde les traces de ce brusque arrêt : le folio 26 verso conserve le dessin d’un iris dans un pot et d’un oiseau posé sur la feuille la plus haute de la marge, qui n’ont pas été coloriés. La bordure de feuilles d’acanthe est inachevée.
All three of the Limbourg brothers died in 1416, possibly in an epidemic of the Plague, before the manuscript was finished. Part of the book has retained traces of this sudden halt : the verso of folio 26 has the drawing of an iris in a pot and a bird sitting on the highest leaf in the margin, which have not been coloured. The border of acanthus leaves is unfinished.
